This photo of Boston Marathon bombing victim, Martin Richard, is floating around facebook with the following caption:
This is Martin, 8. He died in the Boston bombing yesterday. He was at the finish line with his family, waiting for his dad to cross. His mother and little sister were catastrophically injured. He was the student of our dear friend, Rachel Moo. His message resonates powerfully today. My prayer is that we all live by Martin's words, paying tribute to his too-brief, but immeasurably valuable life by following his example.
We could do that. Or we could, quite predictably, behave like a country full of paranoid, racist assholes:
A plane headed to Chicago was brought back to the gate at Logan Airport, after some passengers — who also participated in the marathon — expressed concern over two men, who were apparently not sitting next to each other but were speaking in Arabic, Fox 25 reports. The men were escorted off the plane.
Is there a law against speaking Arabic in public after a terrorist attack? How long must Arabs try to hide their identity to sooth American paranoia?
How about this: Instead of kicking people off airplanes for the crime of attempted Flying While Muslim, we remove the paranoid, racist assholes who don't like being in close proximity to people with funny accents. Every Muslim I've ever met has been friendly and polite. Every paranoid, racist asshole I've met has been a paranoid, racist asshole. Whom would you rather sit next to on an airplane?

Disgusting.
Thanks? Yeah, thanks. What a beautiful young man.
My condolences to his family. My thoughts are with them.
